Jade, an seventeen-year old girl whose life has gone from good to bad to worse in the blink of an eye, is sentenced to a year of hard labour in the forest of Western Canada. Well, maybe not “hard” labour, but it certainly feels that way as Jade learns to care for the animals, land and people of Ponderosa Grove.
